Rome is the common thread that unites each of our contributors. It is the place we all call home, whether it be a temporary one or a permanent one. It is a city filled with both endless inspiration and frustration, and many of the pieces in this edition of REMUS reflect just that.

In September 2020 I began my semester-long internship with the Jesuit Refugee Service’s international office here in Rome. Like many of my peers, my experience was impacted by and conducted in compliance with COVID-19.

In this book, published by Routledge, Coretti (who co-authored the chapter with Daniele Pica) argues that the commercially-driven design of Facebook promotes ‘cycles of depression’ in those movements that adopt social media as means for mobilization and circulation of information.
