Ambassador (ret.) Piero De Masi will return to AUR on June 1 to reprise his very popular overview of Italian history : “3000 Years of Italian History in 60 minutes,” in the MKT 303 Special Topics in Marketing Communications course. Amb De Masi has a breadth of experience gained in a diplomatic careers that spans Pinochet’s Chile, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the 1968 Czech Revolt, and the 9/11 attacks in NY. He has served in all those countries, and has been Italian Ambassador to Holland and Namibia and Consul General to the U.S. Today, he lectures and shares his experience and love of history with students. He has also been a regular speaker at the annual AUR Business Club Business Etiquette Seminar, hosted by Prof. Kathleen Fitzsimmons where he has shared insights into differences in diplomatic and business etiquette practices across cultures.
On June 1, he will provide summer school students with a lesson in Italian history from the foundation of the Republic to present day. The students in the MKT 303 could will be focusing on cultural differences in marketing and organizational communications and will be exploring the cultural, political, historical and economic drivers behind what makes Italy unique.
