The AUR sponsored Amazing Grace Gospel Choir will hold a fundraising concert at the Sant’Onofrio Church in Piazza Sant’Onofrio 2, on the Janiculum on Monday, November 28, 2011, at 7.30 pm.
The proceeds of the concert will go towards the Choir’s USA project, “From Gregorian Chant to Gospel Music”, which plans to present in the US a repertoire of sacred Christian Music, tracing the history of its early development from Gregorian Chant, originating from the Catholic Church, and eventually giving rise to Gospel music. The Choir’s US tour will take place in 2012, on the occasion of the annual American summer Gospel Festival. The choir is giving its all to this ambitious project, intended as a cultural and artistic exchange between Italy and the USA, a universal message of peace and mutual history through sacred music.
The Sant’Onofrio Church has around 100 seats. Doors will open at 7.00 pm and entry will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, against a free donation.
The Amazing Grace Gospel Choir will perform again at Sant’Onofrio on December 19, January 30 and February 27.
