Dr Pier Matteo Barone is currently a post-doctoral research fellow in the Geophysics Laboratory in the Department of Physics, Universita di Roma Tre. He is part of the three-year research project using geophysical techniques to investigate the state of preservation of historic buildings and archaeological sites. He received his Ph.D. from Universita degli Studi del Molise with a thesis on landscape use in Molise: part of this research was spent on attachment to the MacDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge. He has carried out fieldwork at many important archaeological sites including Pompeii, Nero’s Golden House and the Etruscan site of Vulci.
