Enrolling 500 students a semester from over 40 countries, The American University of Rome has hosted Study Abroad students for 5 decades working with renowned education institutions in the U.S. to provide a range of exciting and challenging programs that meet the needs of Study Abroad students and are fully integrated with their home programs.

Tuition and Fees for Independent* Study Abroad Students

  • Tuition: €6,800
  • Visa Fee (Permesso di Soggiorno): €195 (only for non-European citizens.)
  • Health Insurance for 4 Months: €64 (only for non-European citizens.)

Credits and Accreditation

Study Abroad students can join us for a summer, semester or a full year, and transfer credits earned back to their home university. The American University of Rome is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Housing: Your Rome Away from Home

All Study Abroad students opting for university housing are provided with furnished apartments in areas surrounding the campus for a “full immersion” cultural experience. All apartments are equipped with:

  • PC Computer Wi-Fi and land-line phone;
  • Linens, towels and washing machine;
  • Fully equipped kitchens;
  • 24/7 emergency assistance.

Student Life on and off Campus: Beyond the Classroom

Students are encouraged to participate in Italian culture and daily life. The University plays an active role in offering a wide variety of events and student activities. Highlights include:
