| I have a dream: to become a journalist in America. I have been fond of the United States since I spent my 4th year of high school there thanks to a study exchange program. After I graduated from high school I decided I needed to keep my knowledge of English at a high level in order to have more possibilities to move abroad someday and I came to study at AUR. The American education system is very practical and proactive; it is based on participation. Most importantly, my AUR education will allow me do a Masters degree in a major English or American university. |  Alessandra Potenza - Italy | Ho un sogno nel cassetto: diventare giornalista in America. | I chose AUR because of its challenging curriculum in Italian Studies. I decided on this major as I have always loved the language and culture of this boot-shaped peninsula. I have embraced the opportunity at AUR to befriend students and faculty from all over the world. Our multi-lingual community has furthered my understanding of Italy and the world. | AUR was a great help to me. I learned from wonderful business professors and from the classmates I met who are now living and working all over the world. After graduating, I worked for several companies in Rome before becoming CFO of MTV for the Adriatic region in Belgrade. | My experience at AUR was highly informative and helped to shape my worldview. AUR provided the foundation for me to succeed in graduate school. After graduating from AUR, I enrolled in the Masters of International Relations program at Johns Hopkins University, spending the first year at their School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy, and the second year in Washington, DC. I have worked at the Peace Research Institute in Frankfurt, Germany, as a researcher on nuclear weapons proliferation and as a consultant for the World Conservation Monitoring Center, an organization affiliated with the United Nations. I recently accepted a fully-funded position in the doctoral program in political science at Brown University in the US. |  Mehtab Dere - India | La mia esperienza a AUR è stata molto formativa e ha contribuito alla mia attuale visione del mondo. | I fell in love with Rome when I first visited. I applied to AUR, was accepted, and came in a heartbeat. Studying art history in Rome has been the best experience of my life and Rome as a classroom is priceless. I have had many on-site courses, including one on Modern Art that involved a trip to Paris and another on Renaissance Art that went to Florence. I have worked as a guide for a company that shows Rome’s art to visitors; volunteered with German archeologists in Rome; participated in Harvard’s Model UN conference in Boston; contributed to Remus, AUR’s literary magazine; and enrolled in a summer course at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. |  Irene Greaves - Venezuela | Mi sono innamorata di Roma durante un viaggio. Ho fatto domanda di ammissione a AUR, sono stata accettata, e sono corsa qui. Studiare Storia dell’Arte a Roma è stata la migliore esperienza della mia vita e avere Roma come aula è qualcosa di impagabile. Ho frequentato molti corsi sul campo, inclusi un corso di Arte Moderna che comprendeva un viaggio a Parigi e uno in Arte Rinascimentale con un viaggio a Firenze. | AUR has prepared me for my masters in Cultural Heritage Studies at University College London by giving me a hands-on approach to the study of art history and archeology in a modern day context. A wonderful excursion to Ghana, where I did archeological excavations and ethnographic fieldwork, provided me with contemporary and theoretical perspectives in archeology. |  Dana Phelps - USA | Grazie ad un approccio pragmatico e moderno allo studio della Storia dell’Arte e dell’Archeologia, AUR mi ha preparata al Master in Cultural Heritage Studies presso l’University College di Londra. | After graduating from AUR with a B.A. in Business Administration, I traveled with the Women’s Tennis Association tour as a private coach for a tennis professional. Then I put my studies into action by forming a company called Access Italy that provides personalized tours of Italy for celebrities and senior executives. As Managing Director, I depend upon the solid base I received from the professors at AUR who brought years of experience to the classroom. The capstone Strategic Management course gave me the tools to build my business. I am a dual Italian/American citizen who was born in Rome of an Italian father and a Chinese-American mother. My multicultural background fit in perfectly with the global AUR environment and I spent many fascinating afternoons with classmates in the AUR garden. |  Simone Amorico - USA | Dopo essermi laureato a AUR con un B.A. in Business Administration, ho lavorato con la Women’s Tennis Association come coach privato per una professionista del tennis. | With solid instruction and courses covering a wide spectrum of topics and issues, my AUR Communication degree prepared me for a master’s degree in Management from Regent’s College London. I have worked in public relations and management for a luxury hotel in Switzerland and now as a real estate investment advisor in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I still pursue my horse riding and appreciate the important role AUR has played in my interesting and exciting life. |  Monica Casale Romei - Italy | La laurea di AUR in Comunicazione mi ha preparato per il master in Management del Regent's College di Londra grazie alla solida istruzione ricevuta ed alla vasta gamma di corsi offerti. | I live in Infernetto and I went to an Italian high school in Ostia. I enrolled at AUR with my high school diploma, my last year’s grades and a recommendation letter from one of my high school teachers. My English was quite poor at that time; I still remember my legs shaking during my first day at AUR. I was almost going to run away at the idea of being in class with American students but then I thought: you have to start somewhere! I am studying Communication and I have to say that AUR gives you a lot of learning support. This is a small community and we all know each other. It seems like you are in the US--I speak English 10 hours a day! |  Valentina Castellani - Italy | Abito all’Infernetto ed ho studiato in un liceo classico di Ostia. Sono approdata all’American University of Rome con il diploma di manturità, la pagella dell’ultimo anno ed una lettera di raccomandazione della mia insegnante di liceo. Il mio inglese era a livello scolastico; ricordo ancora come mi tremavano le gambe il mio primo giorno qui. Entrare in una classe con tutti studenti americani. Stavo quasi per scappare ma poi mi sono detta: bisogna pur cominciare! Studio Scienze della Comunicazione e devo dire che ad AUR non è dispersivo e ti aiutano a studiare, è una piccola comunità e ci conosciamo tutti. E poi sembra di stare in America. Parlo inglese 10 ore al giorno. |
