Arianna D'Amico

Director of Admissions and Financial Aid

I was born in Boston Massachusetts, my mother is from the United States and my father is from Sicily, Italy. I moved to Italy in 2000 and graduated from The American University of Rome in 2002. In 2005 I attended St. John’s University, Rome campus and earned a Master in International Relations and a certificate in International Law and Diplomacy.

I’ve been working at The American University of Rome for five years in Financial Aid and Enrollment Services.  I love to travel to recruit new students and then welcome them on campus.  I’m also the supervisor of the Veterans Club and enjoy attending all the AUR alumni events in Rome.

Francesca Zivny

Francesca Zivny was born in Portland, Oregon, and attended Grant High School before completing a high school exchange program in Southern Italy. She studied at Portland Community College before transferring to The American University of Rome and receiving her BA in International Relations with a minor in Italian Studies.

Jessica York

Admissions Counselor

I grew up in a bilingual family in Munich, Germany before graduating from the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. After further study at the University of Bologna, I knew Italy was the place I wanted to live. It took a while; I taught modern foreign languages at international schools in England and Thailand and later worked as a university counselor in Germany. However, since all roads lead to Rome, I am finally living where I always wanted to live with my Italian (what else?) husband and two kids.

Leah Martin

Admissions Counselor and CRM Administrator

I am originally from Houston, Texas. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with an undergraduate degree in English education and a minor in Italian. In pursuit of the Italian language, I moved to Rome after graduation and taught English for several years.

I returned to school at The American University of Rome to complete a second undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on comparative literature. The opportunity to intern for the Admissions Department during my time at AUR led me to join the team permanently, where I now work as an undergraduate admissions counselor and CRM administrator.

Andrea Ricci

International Admissions Counselor

I was born in Rome. After completing a BSc in Economics at Tor Vergata University in Rome, I moved to the UK where I got a MA in Marketing Management from Middlesex University in London. I joined AUR in 2017 as an International Admissions Counselor position, where I am responsible for the recruitment in EU and MENA regions.
Prior to joining the American University of Rome, I worked as a Student Recruitment Manager in the UK Higher Education sector, collaborating with top UK universities to improve communication and increase engagement and conversion rates.
My background is also characterized by professional experience in a leading Australian education agency, which completed my international profile in the field. I am passionate about travelling and discovering new cultures. After living in different countries (including the UK, Belgium and Australia) I decided to relocate to Rome and join AUR: I am proud to represent a leading American education provider in my home town!

Justin Schaefer

International Admissions Counselor

I first came to AUR as a transfer student in 2011 from my hometown of Baltimore, MD. While studying at AUR, I worked as a student assistant for the Office of Student Life. During my student assistantship, I realized I had a passion for working with students, and after graduating from AUR in 2013 I began working as an enrollment manager for the College of Adult Undergraduate Studies at Notre Dame of Maryland University. I also acted as the academic advisor for several programs at NDMU including the Elementary Education program, the Business program, and the Corporate Communication program. In 2015 I began teaching an introductory level Italian language course for NDMU’s Renaissance Program.

I joined the admissions team at AUR in October of 2015 as a Rome-based admissions counselor. I am currently working as an International Admissions Counselor across Europe and the United States. I am also in the process of completing my M.S. degree in Global and International Education with a concentration in Higher Education at Drexel University. I am passionate about promoting the importance of international education, and thrilled to be able to share my AUR experience with future generations of AUR students.
