| Art History Program
The Art History program will develop in students:
- perceptual analysis of the visual arts
- the ability to situate a work of art in its historical and cultural context
- critical method and research skills for historically informed reception
- effective oral and written communication skills within the context of the disciplines of Art History and the Humanities
Archeology and Classical Heritage Program
The Archeology and Classical Heritage program will develop in students:
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- the ability to conduct research using appropriate information literacy and linguistic skills
- a knowledge of the historical background to the cultures of the ancient Mediterranean and its impact upon contemporary social and political issues
- ethical competency regarding the concerns of heritage restoration and preservation within a multi-cultural society
- good practice and ethical management and marketing skills for not-for-profit organizations
Interdisciplinary Studies Program
Interdisciplinary studies will develop in each student the ability to:
- make meaningful and effective connections across disciplines
- identify and incorporate discussions of cultural, political, artistic and religious diversity
- critically analyze and evaluate alternative points of view
General Education Program
The objectives of The American University of Rome’s general education program are:
- to develop and strengthen basic skills which will prepare students upon graduation for a modern working environment and which will be adaptable to a rapidly evolving economy
- to cultivate an awareness of, and sensitivity to, cultural, ethnic and social diversity and its importance in personal and professional decision making
