AUR Abroad - Study Abroad
Opportunities across the globe for AUR Resident
Students
AUR students who meet specified
program requirements have the opportunity to spend
a semester, summer or winter session, studying in
another country through the AUR Abroad (AURA)
program. Academic study through the prism of a new
culture can provide students with a perspective
that they would not otherwise gain. The American
University of Rome believes that in order to be
truly prepared to work in a multicultural
environment and acquire an appreciation of and a
sensitivity to diversity, students should spend
some part of their undergraduate studies in
another country. AUR has a rich study abroad
program that offers students opportunities to
study in the United States, Europe, South America
or China.
Agreements with the City
University of New York, Emory University (Goizueta
Business School), and Copenhagen Business School
create a wide array of study abroad opportunities
for AUR students. Through our partnership with the
CUNY-CSI Center for International Service,
students can study in the United States (College
of Staten Island), China (Nanjing University and
Shanghai University), Denmark (Danish
International Studies Program), Greece (American
College of Thessaloniki), Ecuador (Catholic
University of Guayaquil and the University of San
Francisco de Quito) as well as Vietnam, Spain and
in the United Kingdom (England). A number of our
students have studied independently at The
American University of Paris, The American
University of Cairo, Vesalius University and The
American University of Lebanon, among other
international colleges.
Among the regular exchange
programs currently in place for AUR students:
The College of Staten Island is a
University of 12,000 students, situated in one of
the five boroughs of the city of New York, on a
green and spacious campus in a suburban area. CSI
offers a wide range of academic programs that are
complementary to those at AUR.
Business students with a GPA of
3.4 or better are encouraged to consider a
semester at the Goizueta Business School of Emory
University in Atlanta, GA. This top-20
undergraduate business program offers a unique
opportunity for students to study in an American
setting and prepare for the rigors of graduate
school. Interested students must be nominated and
interviewed for the limited number of places
available in this program.
Business students who prefer to
remain in Europe can take advantage of the newly
forged partnership with The Copenhagen Business
School. CBS is the largest business school in
Northern Europe offering Denmark's most
comprehensive range of university degrees in
economics and business administration and modern
languages for business.
There is no foreign language
prerequisite for overseas programs, but all
students are required to study the language of
their host country, in courses appropriate to
their level of ability. In order to study abroad,
a student must have a cumulative grade point
average of 2.7 and the permission of his or her
academic advisor.
The AURA Program Director
provides assistance and information about the
programs and admission requirements. To prepare
effectively for study-abroad, students are
encouraged to investigate the opportunities early
in their academic careers.
