the monument to those who liberated Rome”

Mr. Shindler took a personal part in the liberation of Italy when he landed at Anzio in January 1944. Sixty years later as a veteran and resident of Rome, he had to fight for a monument to his comrades who liberated Rome in June 1944.

AUR Students address World Energy Conference Delegates
September 26, 2007: The new web broadcaster E3.tv visited the AUR campus where they asked students and faculty to address questions to the delegates of the upcoming World Energy Congress.

This year will be the 20th World Energy Congress and is set to take place from the 11th to 15th of November in Rome, with over 3,000 delegates from around the world expected to participate. AUR students asked questions in both English and their own native languages, and impressed E3.tv with direct and specific questions. For further information on the Congress, E3.tv, and to watch the footage, please visit their website.
Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs awards grant to AUR project.
AUR applied to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) for funds to examine the Danish slave fort Fort Fredensborg, east of Accra, the colonial river port at Akuse and purely African site of Krobo Mountain. The initiative is part of AUR’s Africa Program which is now in its fourth year and will be carried out with our partners at Rome’s Università Popolare (UPTER).

Prof. Walston, Head of the Department of International Relations and UPTER’s Prof. Giuseppe Fort will lead a team of students and faculty to survey the sites archæologically and draw up a conservation plan so that the sites can be protected and exploited with the help of the local communities.
Fort Fredensborg at Old Ningo is a UNESCO World Heritage site along with Ghana’s other forts and castles and the team will be working with Prof. Kodjo Gavua of the University of Legon at Accra. The project is part of AUR’s contribution to the use of cultural cooperation in international relations which the Ministry supports.
