Benvenuti!
Welcome to AUR’s Department of Italian Studies webpage!
The Department of Italian Studies at AUR is one of very few in Italy to offer a complete and interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree dedicated to the study of the Italian language, culture, literature, history and society. Located in central Rome, what better place is there to study Italian?
The BA in Italian Studies includes courses focusing on Italian literature, drama, cinema, history, art history, society, politics, Italian culture and Italian-American culture. The language courses, from elementary to advanced levels, are structured to suit the demands of students of varied backgrounds and levels of preparation.
Students also have the opportunity to select a minor in Italian Studies or The Italian Business Environment.
Our faculty boast specializations in a diverse spectrum of areas of expertise and teaching and research experience in Europe and the US.
The Department of Italian Studies encourages its students to take advantage of the rich cultural opportunities offered by the city of Rome and within. Our 1-credit fieldtrip course ITL/SOC 250 Sicily against the Mafia introduces students to a different view of Sicily and of the mafia in Sicily, providing an understanding of the emergence of a new Sicilian culture and society based on the fight against the mafia.
A BA in Italian Studies provides students with the intercultural, linguistic and intellectual skills for pursuing a career of their choice. Our students have completed degrees at Italian universities and the most prestigious graduate programs in the US and have gone on to work in Italy and the US in various fields.
