Meet the Admissions Team

Jamie Lynch
Dean of Enrollment Services
B.S., Lynchburg College, Virginia
J.D., University of Memphis, Tennessee

James Lynch has been at The American University of Rome since 1999. He is also a member of the business/law faculty. Mr. Lynch managed the investment/fiduciary activities of a NYSE traded national banking organization for over 10 years prior to making his home in Rome. His legal and business expertise extends to issues of student health/safety and risk management in international education ; intellectual property ,patrimony laws, art provenance issues, import and export restrictions (specifically with cultural objects and works of art) ; executive compensation ; business ownership transitions inclusive of employee financed acquisitions ; European business concentrations, anti-competitive practices and legal jurisdiction for Internet-based activities.

Mr. Lynch is a graduate of Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia and received his law degree from the University of Memphis. He is a member of the Tennessee and American Bar associations.

Stefania Iorio
Associate Dean of Enrollment Services and Registrar

Stefania Iorio started as Registrar at AUR in December 2001 and in this capacity she has provided, and continues to provide, academic services, information and guidance to the entire AUR Community: students, faculty, administrators and alumni. In October 2008, following the reorganization of the admissions, financial aid and registrar offices into the department of Enrollment Services, Stefania was promoted to Associate Dean of Enrollment Services whilst continuing as the University’s Registrar.

Stefania was born in Rome but for many years lived outside of Italy. After graduating from a boarding school in England, she spent fifteen years studying and then working in the United States. Stefania’s past work experience was primarily in banking, having worked for international US banks such as American Express Bank Ltd and Citibank N.A. Just prior to joining AUR in 2001, Stefania had the honor of working closely with the Ambassador of the US to the Holy See in organizing special events that showcased American cultural and artistic heritage in conjunction with the Vatican’s 2000 Jubilee initiatives in Rome.

Fluent in English, Italian and French, Stefania has also knowledge of the German language. In her free time Stefania enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as rowing, jogging, swimming, watching movies, reading and traveling.

Brian E. Davis
Assistant Dean of Enrollment Services – U.S.
B.G.S.. Wichita State University
M.T.S.. Boston University

Brian has over 25 years of admissions experience which runs the gamut from liberal arts to engineering technology; from open admission to competitive architecture; from two-year to four year; from Counselor to Director to Dean; from domestic (U.S.) to international. His admission career began as a student in the admissions office at Wichita State University. He studied with Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel during Graduate School. Brian has worked at Franklin Institute of Boston and was Director of Admissions Operations at Roger Williams University

After a very successful 16 years as Director of U.S. Admissions for Richmond, the American International University in London, Brian joined the University in January 2009. He is also a published author [ "Making the World a Part of You" ] in the international magazine Global Study.

Arianna D'Amico
Enrollment Specialist

M.A. St. John’s University

Arianna D'Amico was born in Boston Massachusetts and completed high school at Acton Boxboro Regional High School in 1998.  She then attended two years at Suffolk University in Boston before transferring over to The American University of Rome in 2000.  Arianna was President of Student Government her senior year and graduated from AUR in 2002.  In 2005 Arianna attended St. John's University where she earned a Master in International Relations and a certificate in International Law and Diplomacy.
Arianna’s experience includes an internship at a non-profit in Rome, administrative assistant to the director of an Italian lobbyist group, Student Service Assistant for a smaller study abroad program in Rome and a Tour Director for educational tour company leading a group of American high school student around Italy.  She enjoys greatly working with students and in the academic field and hopes one day to pursue a PhD.  Arianna is bi-lingual English and Italian

Zoe De Smet
Enrollment Specialist
Laurea di Dottore in Communication, Vrije University Brussels, Belgium

Zoe joined AUR in March 2007 as Assistant Registrar. She was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium where she majored in Communication and graduated in 1996. She started doing Public Relations in a cultural center in Brussels and moved to Italy in 1999. She first worked at La Sapienza University in Rome for a European doctoral program and following that for a non-profit organization, assisting with EU-funded project management in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

As part of the new Enrollment Services team she is pleased to continue helping out students with issues going from admissions to graduation.

Zoe fluently speaks Italian, English, French and Dutch. She has a daughter and in her free time she likes to read, watch movies and go to contemporary exhibitions and dance performances.

Hanna Suni
Enrollment Specialist
M.Sc., Econ., Helsinki School of Economics & Business Administration

Hanna was born in Lappeenranta, Finland where she completed high school in 1994. She graduated from the Helsinki School of Economics (HSE) in 1999 with a M.Sc. Econ. in Communication and Marketing and moved to Italy immediately after graduation; first to Florence to study Italian and then to Milan to complete a year-long specialization program in Communication and Marketing.

Hanna started working at AUR in 2003 as a Student Life Coordinator and together with her colleagues has developed the services of the office to a great level. Since November 2008 she is part of the new Enrollment Services Office and is excited to face the new challenges with her team. Hanna is fluent in Finnish, English and Italian and can speak some German and Swedish as well. She dedicates most of her free time to her family, but also enjoys swimming, reading, listening to music and doing all kinds of arts and crafts.

Alexa Caesar
Student Ambassador to Enrollment Services
International Relations Major

Alexa Caesar was born in New York City. Her family moved to Rome four years ago and after graduating high school she wanted to find a college close to home. She is a Junior majoring in International Relations. She loves to travel taking advantage of as many school trips as possible. She loves the AUR community. She is active in the International Relations club and plays calcetto on the AUR She-Wolves team. Alexa hopes to one day speak Italian fluently and to work for an NGO based in Rome. As a student assistant, she is passionate in helping prospective students see the AUR community she surrounds herself in.

Stephanie Derner
Student Ambassador to Enrollment Services
International Relations Major

Stephanie was born at Ft. Bragg, NC and lived in VA for 10 years before moving to Germany in 2004. Stephanie is an Army Brat with a very complicated story. She graduated from High School in 2009 with a Home School diploma and is currently a freshman at AUR. Having lived in Europe for the past 6 years, Stephanie has come to appreciate and enjoy learning about other cultures and it sparked her interest in majoring in International Relations. She enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling around Europe, and reading fiction books. Stephanie hopes to one day be fluent in either Italian or German or another language besides English.

Alessandra Potenza
Student Ambassador to Enrollment Services
Communications Major

Alessandra was born in Rome and always lived there except for one year of her life spent in Kansas, as an exchange student. There she learned English and decided to continue her education in an American institution after graduating from the Italian high-school. Now she is a Junior pursuing a BA in Communication. Alessandra loves writing, reading, eating chocolate, cooking and spending time with friends. She dreams of being a well-recognized journalist and winner of the Pulitzer prize.

Clotilde Prozzo
Student Ambassador to Enrollment Services
International Relations Major

Clotilde Prozzo was born in Bolzano, Italy. Together with her family she lived for a number of years both in Germany and Norway. She enjoys learning about different cultures and wants to travel to find out more. Clotilde is attending her second semester at AUR. She moved to Rome to understand more about her native Italian culture, yet loves the international community at AUR. Clotilde speaks Italian, English and some Norwegian and hopes to learn more languages.
