Prof. Paul Zinder’s chapter “‘Get My Revenge On’: The Anti-Hero’s Journey in Veronica Mars’” has been published in the television anthology Investigating Veronica Mars: Essays on the Teen Detective Series. The book was edited by Rhonda V. Wilcox (Gordon College) and Sue Turnbull (University of Wollongong) and published by McFarland in the USA in February.
The anthology contains twelve scholarly essays on the cult series Veronica Mars, including chapters on the show’s incorporation of classical Greek paradigms, the search for mother, and the series’ position as vintage television. Prof. Zinder’s piece is a close-reading of the series, focusing on the protagonist’s three-season development as a damaged anti-hero in a neo-noir world.
The work adheres closely to Prof. Zinder’s teaching interests. His new media studies course, CICO324: Cult Film and Television, will be taught in fall 2011. Prof. Zinder is Chair of the Department of Communication and English at AUR.
