
The U.S. Embassy to Italy and the American University of Rome are proud to host the 4th annual Spring Event, to be held Thursday March 31st 2011 at 9:30 in Rome at the Hotel Aldrovandi, Via Aldrovandi, 15.
2011 will be a milestone year for the Italian book market. Publishers, bookstores, and libraries are exploring the impact of ebooks on readers’ behavior. Business models, reading habits and library services are all going to be dramatically influenced by the new e-reading devices just introduced into the Italian market. Speakers will include Christopher Platt, Director of Collections of the New York Public Library; Professor Gino Roncaglia of Universita’ della Tuscia; Sara Batts, President of SLA-Europe; Jacob Lewis, founder of Figment, an online community for teens and young-adults to create, discover, and share new reading and writing; Antonella De Robbio, librarian and expert of digital copyrights, Universita’ degli Studi di Padova; Antonio Tombolini, CEO of Simplicissimus Book Farm; Giulio Blasi, head of MediaLibraryOnline; Marco Calvo, director of LiberLiber; and Eli Neiburger, expert on gaming and associate director for IT & production at the Ann Arbor District Library.
The event will be of interest to all professions associated with the information and digital publishing sectors, including librarians, publishers and booksellers, as well as students of library sciences, communication sciences, and publishing.
