Preserving Cultural Heritage

Professor Diane Archibald of the Art History Department is appointed to the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Scientific Committee for Theory and Philosophy of Conservation and Restoration.

ICOMOS works closely with UNESCO, ICCROM, and ICOM in order to establish an integrated theoretical basis of preservation of cultural heritage.  The members of the ICOMOS Scientific Committee for Theory and Philosophy of Conservation and Restoration work collectively through meetings, conferences, and publications to explore and develop the basis and framework of conservation, restoration and preservation theory and practice in the globalizing world for the purpose of protecting and safeguarding our cultural heritage monuments and sites.
