Cultural diplomacy is an essential part of modern international relations. Italy obviously uses its huge cultural heritage but also runs a wide series of university exchange programs. Amb. Fratini is a middle east specialist and is former Italian ambassador to Ghana and now heads the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ cultural cooperation program so is ideally placed to describe the intricacies of an expanding field.
About Luca Fratini: Former Italian ambassador in Ghana and expert on the Middle East, Fratini now heads the office responsible for inter university cooperation, the internationalization of university systems and youth exchange. With its enormous cultural heritage, Italy’s diplomacy projects the country’s image and prestige as much as its industrial production or its peacekeeping operations.
