Strategic Planning

The Office of the Provost has an important role in the strategic planning process. The Provost, together with the President, drafts AUR’s three-year Strategic Plan for presentation to Joint Advisory Committee On Planning and Budget (JAC). The JAC links the assessment, planning and budget processes and unites the three main groups that make up AUR — faculty, administration and students. The committee is chaired by the President and made up of 14 individuals drawn from these three constituent groups. The charge of the JAC is threefold. It receives and reviews the draft annual Strategic Plan (SP) and it has an advisory role in budget allocation and the preparation of the Annual Budget both of which are then reviewed and approved by the President, generally in consultation with the Senior Advisory Council, and submitted to the Board of Trustees for final approval. In fulfilling the third element of its charge, the JAC considers all relevant outcomes assessment data from outcomes assessment (OA) reports, action plans, and institutional research at appropriate times during the year.
