Confidentiality of Student Educational Records

The Registrar’s Office maintains all student records relevant to their educational process as well as any personally identifiable information. The information cannot be disclosed to individuals for any reason without the student’s written consent.

These records are maintained in accordance with both USA and Italian applicable laws and regulations.

  • The applicable Italian law is known as Decreto Legislativo 30 giugno 2003 n.196 – Codice in Materia di Protezione dei Dati Personali. For more information regarding this Italian Law please refer to the official site.

Please note however that USA FERPA law provides exceptions to the above policy as follows:

  • Officials of other institutions in which students seek to enroll;
  • Persons or organizations providing students with financial aid;
  • Accrediting agencies carrying out their accreditation function;
  • Persons complying with a judicial order;
  • Those who, in an emergency, must protect the health or safety of students or others.

All these exceptions are permitted under FERPA. This policy is written and published in accordance with the FERPA of 1974.
