Communications Club The AUR Communication Club was founded in the Fall semester of 2004. The club is made up of a mixture of resident AUR and study abroad students. The goal of the club is to meet the needs and interests of students majoring in the field of Communication as well as developing the growth and profile of the Communications Department. Our aim is to support and nurture the creative talents of Communications majors.
Projects include sponsoring an off campus independent magazine, the upkeep of the AUR Student Government website, and promoting the Communications Department by organizing fundraisers, field trips and communication related events throughout Rome. Past events have included the 2004 MTV Europe music awards and 2004 Communications Week at AUR, to name a few.

Business Club The Business club was the first club established at AUR by a group of business students in 2003. Since then the club has grown and transformed into a group of students passionate about business who take initiative and have become leaders in the AUR community. The club plans many events such as the Annual Business Etiquette seminar and Christmas dinner. Last semester the club organized the International Business Networking Fair at AUR, sponsored by the American International Club of Rome. The fair was a huge success and we hope to participate in similar events in the future. Every Spring the club has a Barbeque where the members can enjoy great food, reflect on the accomplishments of the year and hold elections for the new officers of the following academic year. The club's first major project was to redesign the AUR logo. Through surveys and research the club proposed the new logo which was approved by the president and the Board of Trustees. The club also sells AUR merchandise, designed by the members. Items sold include: baseball hats, tee shirts, sweatshirts, window decals and sweatpants, a newly introduced item. The club is also working on a soccer scarf that will be sold starting next semester. The profits will be given to the new AUR soccer team. GO WOLVES! The club is rapidly growing and changing, new members add creativity to the group. This semester's group is very diverse. Students come from many different countries including, Jordan, Italy, the US, Sri Lanka, Germany, France, and Russia. This enhances student interaction with other cultures and prompts dialog about international business.
Every semester the club donates something back to the university. Last year a glass display case was donated as well as 15 new tables for the garden. This semester the soccer scarves will be the clubs contribution to AUR.
The Business club is always looking for new members, either business majors or minors who are enthusiastic and willing to work, of course we have a lot of fun too! Feel free to contact the Business club at bizclub@aur.com
Culture Club The American University of Rome’s Culture Club is in association with the Arts and Humanities Department. It is a nonexclusive club that aims to invite all students from the university to take part in experiencing the culture provided by AUR’s location. Having not just Rome, but all of Italy and the Mediterranean as an outlet for new experiences, the club brings students together while at the same time allowing them to experience places and events that they may not be able to attend or see on their own. The club started in the fall semester of 2005 by visiting the catacombs of San Callisto as an opening event. Since then the Culture Club has organized a trip to the Catacombs of San Callisto and San Sebastiano every semester. The Fall 2006 semester hosted the largest number of attendees ever, reaching over 50 students. Other events have included a survey on Italian Wines in connection with the AUR Student Government and a trip to the Cinecittà studios, where the members had the opportunity to visit various TV and film sets, including those from HBO’s Rome and Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York. Upcoming trips will include a visit to the Terme di Caracalla and a day at the Orsini Villa at Bomarzo in collaboration with the Italian Studies Club. More information on activities appear monthly in the “When In Rome” newsletter which can be found in the student lounge and library.
Italian Club The Italian Studies Club of AUR, sponsored by the department, strives to get a more accurate feel for Italian life than is provided by just visiting the museums and historical sites. The club tries to get more involved with the Italian community in and around the university and to explore the differing cultural aspects throughout all of Italy. Activities include things such as Italian Nights; evening get-togethers with Italians to practice speaking the language, to learn a new card game, or a multitude of other things and Italian movie nights. The club is working on planning fieldtrips to nearby towns for annual cultural festivals. The club is open to all AUR students, both resident and study-abroad. Anyone interested in joining, obtaining a schedule of events, or proposing new ideas for activities can contact the Italian Studies Department or the current president Mia Pezzanite (Student Government representative) at m_pezzanite@hotmail.com. Reach Out Club Founded in 2006, the Reach Out Club devotes their time to raising money for nonprofit organizations and charities around the globe. Since it’s start, the club has raised money for UNICEF, Habitat for Humanity, The Cape Coast School for the Deaf in Ghana, and Caritas (a local soup-kitchen). The club works within the AUR Community to raise money and awareness for their causes.
Some of the most popular fundraisers were the Halloween Candy Grams, where students could purchase a bag of candy and message to send to friends. The club has also organized fundraisers for the Holiday season and Valentine’s Day. Future plans include movie nights, dinners, guest speakers, on-campus events, and other fundraising activities.
