AUR Posts Plaque to Honor Business Club Effort
BizClub Donation Equips “Smart” Classroom
15 February 2008: It is a BizClub tradition that at the end of each academic year its members “give back” to the AUR Community a portion of the proceeds of the AUR Merchandising Business. The Club manages the business as a service to, and with the authorization of, the University. The Club Gift to AUR for the 2006/7 academic year was the €2090 needed to equip another “smart” classroom. To recognize the efforts of these entrepreneurial, hard-working students, AUR placed a plaque in Room 105, home of the latest “smart” system. On hand for the unveiling were IT Director Rosa Fusco, who received the gift on behalf of the University, and BizClub Presidents Past (Mike Park, AUR 2007) and Present (John Persico AUR 2008). Mike (shaking hands in photo), now a marketing associate with the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission said “The Club could afford to make this investment, thanks to the dedication of all the members in managing and promoting AUR merchandise sales, using their selling skills, and doing the market research with the student body necessary to identify which new products should be introduced.”

Rosa expressed the University’s thanks, and noted “Instructional technology has become an integrated part of the classroom experience for many courses at AUR. Having an additional smart classroom will allow even more faculty to experience the benefits of modern and smart technology in the classroom.” According to Rosa, the system the Club purchased includes:
mixer system and speakers
high resolution projector with ceiling mount
DVD/VCR combo
additional video card for pc
Current BizClub President John Persico noted that this gift is the latest is a series of gifts. “Every year since the Club’s founding in 2003, it has tried to identify ways it can add value to the AUR experience and “give back” to the institution. The proceeds from the sales of AUR logo apparel and souvenirs allow us to make a major gift each year. This is written into our charter and is part of the mission of the AUR Business Club. Gifts that the Club has given in the past include the AUR Trophy Case, the outdoor school banner and garden furniture, as well as donations to the AUR Harvard Model U.N. Team and the Men’s Soccer Team.” John admits that the 2006-7 gift will be a tough one to top! As Mike added, “Every year the Club has made its mark on the University; in another five years, wherever one will turn at AUR they will probably be seeing a BizClub donation such as this smart classroom.”
