As of Spring 2007 AUR occupies 7 buildings, 6 of which very near one another, the seventh is the Pyramid Art Studio located near the Rome Pyramid, 10 minute drive or bus ride from the main campus.
Latest acquisition is Carini 23 Building, a 5 story building of the ‘70s designed by a famous Italian Architect (Paolo Portoghesi) worth of 500 sqm and about 25 rooms, just 2 minutes away from main campus entrance. This acquisition allows the Physical Plant department to meet objective of locating accommodation for three additional full-time faculty and addressing needs of the expanding Communication department. It also allows the move of the Library to Evans’ Hall with greater space and increased study area in a very peaceful and attractive study environment.
The approximate size of the campus is of 3,000 sqm or 32,000 sqf. The Physical Plant Department provides space, furniture and equipment approximately distributed as follows:

20 Faculty areas and offices
13Classrooms
6 Laboratories
1 Library building
4 Common and recreational internal areas
10 Terraces and gardens
6 Meeting, Conference and seminar areas, Auditorium

SECURITY
The American University of Rome is concerned about the safety of all members of its community and visitors to its campus. All members of the AUR community are requested to use their AUR ID card upon entering the facilities and wear it while on campus. All guests have to be checked in at the reception and wear the visitor’s badge if on campus unescorted.
All buildings are unlocked by Security. Security stands at the main campus gate and runs random checks during the day at the various nearby buildings. All buildings have an alarm system which is turned on and off by security. Security of the campus includes night patrolling tours. Security, at closure time, checks that all doors and windows are locked, that everybody has left the premises and turns on the alarms. A network of cameras patrols the premises 24 hours a day.
Information on emergency procedures is included in all the University's handbooks. A list of emergency numbers is provided to all students during orientation and is available at all times from the Student Services office.
A Crisis Management Team and an Emergency Team are available in case of need.
The local police, fire department and ambulance services can be reached from any university phone in the event of an emergency.
